Modern take on existentialism I guess

I think this is actually a legitimate philosophical conjecture. In “The Stranger”, it is only when Meursault is perceived and judged by other people and learns to conceive of himself through their eyes that he begins to exist. (In the Kierkegaardian sense of the word, at least.)

Reminds me of my Philosophy classes last year :))
